Alternative location for T-Max display idea
Hey all, I wasn’t happy with the normal locations of the T-Max display so came up with the following idea to mount it in the sun visor.
You will need a spare visor mirror surround, a few lengths of cable and a lot of patience 🤣
Basically take 80mm out of the centre of a spare mirror surround, stick it back together, bit of filler, primer and paint, hollow out where you’d like it to be in the visor and there you go!
The wires will need extending and the box itself modding but all simple stuff really with normal household tools.
I have more photos and can provide a more detailed description if anyone else is interested.
It works for me and is exactly what I wanted, perhaps not to everyone’s taste, but as said it’s what I wanted 😀

That’s not almost genius, that is genius! Though I’d dispense with the “door”.

My initial plans were not to have the ‘door’ but it looked worse and unfinished without it due to the hinge thingy on the surround.

Thanks, there’s obviously a lot more to it than my short write up but I’m happy with the results 👍

Very tidy solution that I wouldn't have thought of

Would be easy to print a surround on a resin printer that would look just like the factory surround in the mirror without any of the remnants of the mirror flapMust stop buying shiny toys....

Just a simple case of thinwall cable of adequate spec threaded through the existing tube that the wires for the vanity light goes. You will find the tube once you unscrew the visor bracket on the right hand side, it actually pulls out of the visor itself which I found easier.
It’s a tight fit, need a bit (lot) of lube! But they do go, if you don’t have lights on your vanity mirror, then this part will be easier.

Where did you acquire the surround from as I have a broken one and all wreckers want to sell me a complete visor.

I like that. A lot. Would you be able to provide any more details of the modifications to the box?
