Hi all,
Having real problems getting the fuel filter off my 56 plate TDV6. It has the 'spin on' type filter, the same as the D4 etc.
I just cant get it to budge, it's only been on there about 18 months but its stuck fast. I think part of the problem is that the filter assembly is not rigidly mounted, so most of the force I apply is moving the housing and not turning the filter! I've had strap wrenchs around it etc and still it won't budge.
I have checked to make sure I am turning it the right way before anyone mentions it! I think my only option might be to remove the filter assembly and try and get the filter off on the bench. I'm just worried all the force I'm applying whilst under the car is going to damage the assembly.
Is there any trick I am missing?

If you haven't drained the oil out take it for a run and get the engine hot, then try.
Forget the above I thought it was the oil filter cap you are having problems with
ISTR the fuel filter and housing has an arrow on each that has to be aligned to remove, then just pull off. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
