I traded in my perfectly good TD5 for a 2005 TDV6 SE manual, expecting great things. As part of the deal the new car was to have a service, MOT and the usual pre delivery inspection. When i excitedly collected the SE it did not take long to discover that the front fog lights and cruise control did not work at all and the rear parking sensors only worked intermittently. I have now owned the vehicle for 8 weeks and it has been back to 2 main dealers for a total of 3 weeks. I did have an 08 HSE as a courtesy car, so not all bad.
They attempted to deliver my car back to me twice, fog lights and cruise fixed, but each time the rear parking sensors still did not work. When i did get it back the sensors worked for 2 and a half days before failing again. When i select reverse i get a constant tone from the system and it fails to operate in any other way.
PLEASE can anyone help.

sounds like you have a fault with the sensors, the dealer can view the sensors on the computer as loing as they are factory fit, if they can not get then to fault get the dealer to wet the back of the car when on the computer and they will soon start to fault

They told me that no faults were showing, so they had to strip the back down and trace the wiring. They then found a loose connection behind a panel. If this was true, why did they stop working the 2nd time and they spent another day looking for the fault again.
Will recommend the wet test to them.

Wiring looms in the rear bumper are prone to intermittent faults also

I have just been and wiped the sensors with a clean cloth and amazingly they now work perfectly . Surely my car was not in 2 dealerships and pulled apart for the sake of a clean cloth.
When all else fails, look for the obvious

Hope I'm not teaching my grandmother to suck eggs... but take care when washing with a jet wash... the sensors don't like it!!! As you slide down the banister of life
