Slimer,
Thats very true - one of my concerns before I bought the car was that everywhere I looked, everything said the dealer network was at best inconsistant, at worst, just plain pants. The dealer I bought the car from is moving towards pants.
They wont be serivicing the car moving forwards!

Many, too many, hours were spent on this one. If you do a search on FBH or radio trick, you will find reams of information.
In a nutshell, the FBH will operate on the timer (as will the pre-cool) if you set the time on the settings menu, switch off, and then turn the radio back on. Provided that the timer is set to come on before the radio switches off, the heater will spring into life - all other parameters, like ambient temperature, being satisfied.
So, it was useful for deicing/cabin warming on the drive, but you couldn't set it the night before and expect it to be operating the following morning.
The concept is good (it works on the Range Rover), and I suspect it will be reintroduced on the Discovery in due course.
Once the message centre software is updated to the latest level, the pre-heat/cool settings are removed from the menu - not least, as they shouldn't have really been there in the first place!

You can try the pre-cool any time....today would be a perfect time; I've just had a very pleasant lunch sitting outside.

Wow - thats a great little gadget. Used the pre-heat yesterday morning for the first time as the exmoor temps drop below 8C and the frost bites. Car was toastie warm, defrosted and ready to roll. 
Not sure I would want to lose that option with the software upgrades - although I am sure I read a thread that said that with 13.5 it stays?
Must try and find that again - want to get all the software up to date before investing in the re-map later in the month...

have found a webasco heater under the bonnet of my 56 plate s my cabin seems to take forever to heat up from cold. how can i tell if my pre-heater is working pwadey

this function did not work any way on the disco before been removed from the settings menu, that is why it was removed from the settings

Hi, my Disco 3 battery is going down in a weeks time, I installed a new one, same problem. The dealer said they must upgrade the software, is that the way to go? I can not park it for more than a week!
Can somebody HELP?????????????

Yes, we had a 07 F2 and there was a recall to remove pre-heaters from all F2's before last winter (or the one before!) due to remote risk of fire. So no preheat or quick warm up/de ice all winter. Luckily in the spring they were able to supply the revised heater! Tony
