I have a loud vibrating noise coming from behind the central belly guard. Does anyone know whats behind here? Is this were the air compressor is located. The DSC light is on on the dash. A service is due and it sounds expensive. Anyone know if a manual is available except the LR Website thing. Disco 3 2.7S, Wife, Daughter. Kin Horse, Kin Horse Box, 1952 Grey Fergie.

Not sure what's behind the belly guard but the compressor is located on the near side just about under the rear passenger door. I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

if its a buzzy noise from the rear off-side passenger door then it could be the suspension compressor. If you have been off-road in mud etc then it probably need cleaning. Easy to do, 2 or 3 bolts and unclip. Duncan

Behind the central belly guard lies the gearbox, and I think the catalytic convertor is there too on a TDV6.
DSC light on all the time is unusual, unless you have manually switched it off by holding the DSC button down for more than a second. Could be a puncture? Any other symptoms you can tell us about?

There was an issue with the fuel lines being connected incorrectly. Could be the lines buzzing? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Yep behind the Belly Gaurd is not good
At the easy end - Exhaust vibrations from touching chassis or gearbox, and the fuel filter as mentioned above.
Bad news stuff
Gearbox, transfer case and tourque converter.
Lots of reasons for the DSC light to be on, is it showing orange or red?
Orange is the warning colour - eg sensor faults recorded but not permanently failed, or dsc is working I get it when the rear shocks fade on corrugated roads and the the DSC stays busy to keep the vehicle is a straight line.
Red, something is permanently broken or failed.
Drop the bellypan off and have a look, the noise and lights may not be connected. Also double check the wiring out to the speed sensors at each wheel in case one has been snagged and pulled away.

Hang on, now I'm reading this sober
What does the symbol you are seeing on the dashboard look like, please describe. Also, this vibrating noise - does it only occur when you slow down?
If the symbol is a green logo of a D3 going down a hill, then you have accidentally switched on the HDC, and the noise you hear is the system trying to operate.
It could be as simple as that

Folks
Its comming form the air compressor on the near side under the passeger door. Took off the plastic cover this AM and got covered with silicon beads. Closer look showed what looks like a compressor inlet filter. The plastic end plate of the cylinder has come away and tipped the beads out. The other end has a 2 pipes coming out, one with red connecter the other is blue. The noise is the compresser inlet suction noise. Waiting for a price for a spare from local stealer. Anyone had this problem before? Disco 3 2.7S, Wife, Daughter. Kin Horse, Kin Horse Box, 1952 Grey Fergie.

My compressor packed up a few months ago due to being packed with mud and clay for too long a time. Had a new one under warranty, althougn I have seen compressors on Ebay (New) for £150. Duncan

Nice one Dunc.
Just had stealer quoting for new compressor £295 + VAT. One on ebay - asked for buy it now price. Filter part not available separately - apparently.
Sooner we get a Haynes manual and other suppliers in the market like Paddoc's the better! Disco 3 2.7S, Wife, Daughter. Kin Horse, Kin Horse Box, 1952 Grey Fergie.

Ok,
Isnt there an existing thread about the compressor filter being manufactured from an inappropriate material?
I remember from a few months ago someone wrote that they had a warrantty replacment on that bases.
Any one else recall the same.

On my D2, I was forever getting stones wedged between the ACE pump and the chassis rail. Sounded like the car was about to explode! 2 seconds with a long screwdriver always sorted it. Could it be anything as simple as that? 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
