My nearest dealers are Guy Salmon in Stockport and Williams in Manchester. Anybody any views on these two dealers? Interestingly I do have a friend who works at Williams...Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice guys.
THUB - am going to ring Webbers tomorrow and see what I can arrange. Basingstoke isn't too far and worth a trip to see how I get on there.
Spent the eve reading the online manuals at the LRtechinfo site ... its a bit of torture really learning all about a car I don't actually have .. YET
Will keep you all updated. I get the first indications of the costs and finance tomorrow but we have decided to aim as high as we can .. we don't have kids, drink or smoke and work too much so this will be our pride and joy.
Thanks again
Kieron

I use Guy Salmon, and my only complaint is that their servicing is expensive.
They give good advice, and have solved all the mysteries of the car so far, but they did charge me £85 for some quality branded (Mobil 1 I think) oil at a service, and I subsequently found out that the Land Rover branded and recommended oil is far cheaper, and just as good.
The fact that they use the expensive stuff unless asked to do otherwise could be called devious.
I have never used Williams, but Simon had an emergency tyre problem sorted out by them when he was in the area, and sang their praises.
I did not buy my car from either - it came from Farnell in Guiseley via a lease company, so I don't know if GS or Williams are good for a discount.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some guidance and so wanted to let everyone know that I placed my order today for pickup on March 1st Hopefully I can then start to take a more active role in the forum rather than just lurking (and dreaming)
Bought the car from T H White in Swindon (thanks to LT for the recommendation) and found them to be a very a friendly, professional dealership. They offered by far the best price on the new car and the best price on the trade in. Very Happy I don't dance but I do Disco

Great news Kieron, I was certainly impressed by T.H.White. Glad to hear you were as well.
Hope to get mine early April, if the right deal can be struck!
