| EPB (Again) and other Problems. |
|
EPB failed again this morning on Bluey, so I rang the dealer and explained that I am off to the UK on Friday morning and could I make an appointment for next week. Come in today they said and we will have the car back to you by 5pm
3:30pm phone call - Both rear track rods are broken and other bits are knackered, will not release the car to me as it is not safe to drive!!!! They have ordered the parts and will have it ready for me in the morning. Helped me organise a hire car (Mondeo TDCi) to get home.
So are the track rods covered by my warranty? 2000 Defender 110 SW TD5 Caladonian Blue

I would have thought with both broken you would not have been able to drive the Disco. Formerly shiny moose

oh he did say that both rear wheels were only held on with a few bolts and hadn't I noticed anything
I did say that I had asked them to look at the steering as it was a bit off ..... 2000 Defender 110 SW TD5 Caladonian Blue

Pat , I had the same on the front driver side , not covered under warranty
the parts were not expensive I think 60 euros for a track end and a tie-in
not to bad,

I knackered the N/S front track rod on mine (over enthusiastic off-road... ) and had it replaced without question by the dealer under the extended warrenty.
Got to be worth the ask. I see no ships........

Your lucky!
Ours starting screaming the other week, called them last Tuesday as I was on holiday all week and assumed they would be able to do it right away as no one is buying anything, and they said earlier was this Wednesday, but I had to wait until tomorrow if I wanted a loan car
I had a discussion with the service guy along the lines of "oh we have this common problem" which he acknowledged but said it was not common. I resisted suggesting he look at the poll on here but perhaps suggested I read they can get stuck on and maybe they could do it sooner as the wife drives the car and don't want her to get stuck.
He said he had NEVER heard of on getting stuck on, no problem etc, bring it in next week. 3 hours later on a multi-story car park ramp in the christmas queue guess what happened, EPB jammed on good... they better not start with any "not under warranty" business tomorrow or they will be in for an ear bending!
Hope you gets yours back ok yawlboy, one busted track rod sounds bad, two sounds jut plain careless?

Bloody potholes, I blame the council myself.
Told to ring back at 2pm, should be ready for collection as the parts arrived this morning. 2000 Defender 110 SW TD5 Caladonian Blue

AAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh - just rang them, "we are doing everything we can to get it ready but we close at 5:30 so ...." I then explained that (again) that I am taking 6 people to the UK at 5 am in the morning and I am towing a trailer.... "will I suggest you get here for 5:15 this evening and we can decide what to do........."
So I might have to purchase towing electrics for SWMBO's D3 and fit them this evening....... 2000 Defender 110 SW TD5 Caladonian Blue

Respect to J&P Cork - car keys handed to me at 5:25pm, service manager then reads me a lists of things they have replaced and says sign here - all covered by warranty. Oh and they even found the time to wash it
it drives like a new car now, off to CenterParcs in the morn... 2000 Defender 110 SW TD5 Caladonian Blue
