Not sure I went home.... he said he could fix it whatever it was ...clean it refit whatever it was. Then found the egr fault by all accounts.
It did have a new engine at 60,000 ish, RAC man had hinted that it was not the best job at putting in a new engine with the amount of sealent used??? not sure why sealent was being used???
The crew who had driven it that day complained of a foul smell... then found the coolant leak???
so Im not really sure what or why it had happened.
And YES driving the Shogun today up and down the M3.... you just cant cane the Shogun it wont let you... you have to plan your manouver about two miles before!

hey davevx, my trip to bonny old scotland wasnt without its minor niggles, washers packed up at -7 degree around penrith (recon its a fuse blown according to my posting today), bluetooth on me ear packed up and wouldnt recharge, and the miserable new owner didnt even give me a cup of coffee or tip on new years eve
On the up side, me "mans flue" turned out to be that 24hr virus that our kids had, all gone by the next day just as I was collecting the outbound car from the dealership

Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It lowers emissions by forcing the engine to ingest exhaust fumes at part throttle.
I'm not sure if your V8 and V6 petrol engines have them. Its a common failure point on the TDV6.

Exhuast gas recirculation only found on the TDV6 i believe. Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!

Both the 4.0L V6 and the 4.4L V8 have EGR systems. In addition to being required for most emissions standards, EGR is often beneficial for gasoline (sorry, petrol) engines. Check out this discussion http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic28536.html

whatever is/was wrong with it Im sure 3 weeks to get it sorted is a bit of a joke.
With the amount of money they get from servicing once every 6-8 weeks you think they might make a bit of an effort.
Maybe time to change the dealer
