Hi guys yes it me again.
Took my disco a run yesterday and tried the cruise control for the first time and all worked fine untill I put my foot on the break which then deactivated the cruise control but when I selected button 1 on the steering wheel to put it back to cruise control it wouldnt work.
What did I do wrong??????????

To return to a selected speed, you have to press the button with the same logo as displayed in the cockpit. If you look at the steering wheel it is no. 2 starting bottom left...
Martin
...and from what I experienced from previous cars, you have to be above a specific speed to be able to activate speedcontrol at all...

Top left cruise button sets the cruise as we know, if you press the brake you press the bottom left to resume upto last set speed. However there is a known fault on these where either the switches need changing or the wiring for them.
Mine did this, especially if I held the button it would cancel the cruise, to re-activate I had to stop, turn off and start again.

crusie control
Thanks guys
I did select button one while I was doing roughly sixty and a bit miles an hours as most of us know well below the speed limit!!!!
If I can make it clear, looking at the steering wheel button one is the very top button with the + symbol and button two is below it ect ect.
What I did was applied the breaks and the cruise control symbol on the dashboard disappered and when reapplying the cruise control I pressed button one again.
Noting happened so I tried button two and same again nothing happened.
So I am all confused especially when I tried the cruise control again the day after while on the motorway it worked fine.

Sounds like you have a flaky cruise control - I'd say get it looked at but the dealer took three goes with mine before they replaced the switch panel - they like to see a failure before ordering parts/fixing - which is tricky with cruise Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I find that to get the CC to resume from button one sometimes requires more than one (often 3) presses, i have now learnt to use the resume feature on what i assume is button three (speedo sign) and that works everytime, may be down to how the system is programmed and designed possibly. i.e. You can do it more than one way, but it works best as designed I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Don't forgt that both buttons are "tilt switches" - pressing the top part of the button does something different to pressing the bottom half, and pressing the middle does nothing (but it can appear to do either the top or bottom function......)
Upper button, top - set speed or increase speed if already active
Upper button, bottom - decrease spped if already active.
Lower button, top - restore to set speed
Lower button, bottom - drop out of cruise - does not cancel the stored speed.Rob Smith

One more function of the cruise control buttons.
If Hill Decent is active, then the increase/decrease set speed function works - be careful as pressing the wrong bit of the button could lead to a rather more rapid decent than you would wish. Not to mention a bill for replacing soiled seat covers.......Rob Smith
