This forum is looking useful - Thanks for all the response to my other posts.
This one is a cry for help!
I've got the removable swanneck towbar fitted to my car and need to carry three bikes across Germany whilst towing a caravan.
Question is - is it viable to have bikes stowed on top of Disco (or is it too high). should I be looking for some sort of rear mount rack for the car (and does anyone have recommendation!)
ANy help will be appreciated - I dont want to make any mistakes with this one!

Same question - I got the accessory book today and only found the multi-height tow bar option. I need something for the roof (perhaps with optional ladder stowage ).

Thanks for the link, looks like just what I need. Not too sure if the Discovery version is just for a D2 rather than a D3. Best I call, not cheap though!

Hi, we are talking about the same thing! Click on the link to maxxraxx already given above. On the site you will find a link to the 'swan-neck' version which clamps on to the quick-release tow-ball.
In answer to my own question, if you go to the shop site for maxxraxx it says the 'Discovery' version is just for D1&2s. The normal premier is listed for the D3. The 'shop' only gives options to the non-swan-neck version though. Unless I missed something else...

Which is what I use, there is other manufactures of similar products as well.
That's some piece of kit & some price. Knowing my luck someone would nick it and leave my bikes.

The rack is locked on to the swan neck; I actually got the 2 bike version of this from e-bay for about £100.00 less than shown (I just picked the web site to show the option, not dealt with them my self). Andy - 2006 HSE TDV6

I bought the Thule 3 bike carrier that fits the swan neck ball. It's the one with the quick-release that allows the bikes to be swung away from the tailgate, allowing easy access to the car boot.
If fits easiliy and securely. A typically nice Thule product.

Do you have a part number, as the Thule site is full of 3 bike carriers?

Now I know that I'm in trouble!
The racks I have seen dont allow you to tow at the same time .... Thule and Pendle both told me they dont know of any that can be used on the removable towbar to let you tow and carry bikes at the same time ......
any bright ideas out there (or do I spend ££££s on roof racks and risk wrecking my beautiful D3 roof every time I put a bike upstairs!)
