Checking on the annual tax for a 2006 D3 HSE, but I assure you, it is quite lower here.
As for taxes and fees at the time of purchase:
16% Sales Tax
12% Registration
Then...
460 euro for transportation
600 euro for "handling" (a flat fee LR charges for doing the registration paper work, which, in theory, one may save by opting out and doing the registration personally).
So,
You pay 53,795 euro for the HSE, and, the following are optional add-ons:
Metallic paint;
Volumetric alarm;
Premium navigator;
Automatic shift;
Electric (foldable) side mirrors;
Moon roof (stationary + front);
PTI;
Front parking sensors;
Adaptative headlights;
Privacy glass;
Rear diff;
All these "optional" items (which, except for the rear diff, make up a regular UK HSE) bring you to about 62K euro + taxes, or roughly 80,500 euro.
I did mine (privacy and rear diff excluded) for 59K euro, so I think I had a reasonably good deal.
Expect to pay over $1,500 euro in insurance, though....
PS We do get the mudflaps included in the HSE base model.... JL Martin

Road tax for a D3 in Madrid some 200 euro per year.
Since this is a municipal tax, the amount varies from town to town (variations can be extreme).JL Martin

LHD, Re wife & parking:
My wife has a D3 and is starting a Uni course this October. she took one look at the Uni car park & declared "No Way".
Solution - bought her a Toyota Aygo, easy to park & 61 mpg 4.6l/100kms). Worked out (in my creative accounting way) the the fuel & tyres saved would just about pay for the Aygo for Uni, rest of the time she'll use the D3.
Sorted!

The old Saab 9-5 Aero wagon will be semi-retired; thankfully I can run two cars on one set of plates so don't have to rush like an idiot to get rid of it 200km away Discovery 3 Manual as PDF | Blackvue 500 | BAS Remap | Mates did South America in a Landie
