Hello Martin and other users,
Thanks for letting me join the community, I live in North Yorkshire and am just in the process of purchasing a 2008 disco 3 SE to replace my disco 2 that I have owned for 18 years!
This was a nervous decision as some people give them a bad report, however the vehicle is very tidy and looked after (thats the way I will keep it) and if you ask enough people about any vehicle you will get mixed thoughts!
Having always found forums a gold mine of information I found this one while looking at building a drawer storage system to go in the boot, (hopefully i can now find it as a member!).
Take care out there folks and stay safe.

Hi Solstice,
Check out the belts and the oil pump. There was a design change on the pump with a gusset added. Unless you absolutely know that they have been done, change it. If in doubt, change it and the timing belt.
If the oil pump fails, you will have a dead D3, towing and an expensive engine replacement. Even a 2nd hand engine and fitting will be very expensive.
Having said that, enjoy the drive. A wonderful vehicle.
Best wishes, Jeffoir '97 D2 petrol V8 > '00 D2 petrol V8 > '02 D2 petrol V8 > '07 D3 TDV6 HSE > '13 D4 SDV6 HSE

I have used your site a couple of times, but never registered, before now.
I bought a Disco3, 2008 model a year ago. Bought the cheapest I found, which has its challenges. But even with almost 400k (km) on the odometer, it has served me well so far.
My dream is to have enough time to gradually fix it up, and hope to get lots of inspiration from you guys.
Regards
Jan

Hi all, I am the proud owner of a D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE, MY 2010. Besides that car, I own a defender 90 MY 2010 and a Series 3, 2.25 Diesel MY 1978. I said goodbye to my 1978 RRC V8 and my faithful D2.
Look forward to learn more about the D4 in this forum.

Welcome, it would be worth re-posting this in the maintenance and mods section where the guys can offer some good advice.
I've had both sprung and air D3's and enjoyed driving both, the air system is not too bad to maintain and gives an excellent ride when fully working I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks for letting me join this group. I’m from Holland and my driveway is occupied by two Land Rovers. A Defender 110 (2007) and Disco4 (2011).

Hello to all,
New member to disco3 but long time Land Rover owner. Looking to buy a Disco 3 at the moment and so far upon research, this site has been amazing.
Figured I'd make a step forwards or upwards from the older models I had owned so far (RR Classics, P38's & Disco 1's). I have read a lot of common and not so common issues with the Discovery 3 here and hoping if the right one comes my way to keep enhancing my knowledge through here.
Not many for sale here in Cyprus though
Good morning to all

Started with a 109 Safari High Capacity 1972 over a Disco 2 2004 with upgraded D5, 220 hp 440 Nm, I'm new learning about different fault-codes in a Disco 3. Its a perfect snow driving rig since I've added an ARB diff lock in the front.
I´m a journalist and I've worked for the swedish 4x4 mag, that's now discontinued. I'm a collector of classic Volvo off-roaders like the 6x6 from the seventies and the 4x4 from the sixties. No fault-codes!
For the moment I'm trying a lot of different auxiliary lights on the Disco. You can see them on youtube: livsstilsbilar. There's alson one about greenlaning in Sweden.

Hi StefSwed,
You're the "real deal" with those vehicles and mods. Well done. So exciting. Welcome aboard.
In addition to my Disco '07 D3, I have a 2005 Volvo XC70 with 310,000 km on the clock and nothing but happy driving memories. When Volvo design and build them properly, they do a very good job for the price.
Enjoy the Forum. Wonderful people here, they are so happy to help.
Best wishes,
Jeffoir
