mmm now it happend to me...

My little motor has just turned 18,000 and when I fired her up this evening I had an oil service in 600 miles indicated ???

So.. now I am convinced it is a feature.

Only problem is that I had her serviced 3,000 miles ago and would assume the engine oil is OK.

Will call them in the morning as off on hold soon and I don't want to go in the little car... Freelander.

Mine's going in on Wednesday to have the iron man reverse selection sorted out and the seat looked at, they offered me a courtesy car when I booked it in without needing to ask as long as I was okay waiting a couple of weeks - I'm intrigued to see what I get Question

Hi Simon, mine did the same. The dealers do not know anything about it! I had mine reset, and they told me that I do not need to book my next service until the car tells me.

mmm so I need a service in 600 miles ??? I knew the cheap servicing was a cunning ploy by LR marketing Wink

Will call the dealer in the morning and get this sorted.

So the feature really does work or should I stick to my next service at 30,000 ?? Be good to know for sure.

Well I can assure you all it definitly came on, and I did not have to leave the radio on to see it Wink

My service was considerably more than Simons, I forget now, but I think it was over £350 and the oil was £84 alone.

Gareth (and any other guys) can you pm me details as to exactly how you get your pre-heater to work with the radio ruse. According to LR it is absolutely and deffinately not possible. It isn't with mine and I would appreciate the info for Webasto when they look at mine. If any of you can fire up, then we do have just a software issue and Webasto may be able to solve that after the politics without any other alterations.

Sorry to go off thread, but sort of linked.

Gareth, just because I am a total loss on the computer, donta taka the mickey, or I senda the other half around with the violin case Twisted Evil .

Yes, I have the message and it is great, thank you very much, just what I wanted.

I think we only have a simple software issue with the pre-heater and it still looks as if it is the tank that is the core of the problem. I am meeting Webasto soon, so should have the answers then.

I musta go now as the pasta is ready.

It's not a service, just going to get a few issues resolved, shouldn't cost a penny! Going to Heathwood in Ashford near Heathrow, not my most local dealer but where the car came from

Just had the bill for my 1st service at 15,000 miles and it was £435 inc. VAT. That included replacing front & rear brake pads and £44.25 plus VAT for the oil. My dealer collected my car from our house (about 45 miles from the dealer) and left us a brand new Disco 3 to use until they returned ours 2 days later. I am pretty happy with that.

On the subject of the loaner, it was a basic coil sprung TDv6 manual. Our own TDv6 s auto might cost a few grand more but it is definitely worth it. We found the coil springs far less comfortable and the manual 6 speed gearbox really didn't feel as if it suited the engine at all. I think anyone who is currently driving a manual should try an auto and they may well be ammazed at how much smoother and easier the car is to drive. In terms of performance I think the auto actually feels just as quick, indeed quicker mid range, although I accept that there is definitely a fuel penalty.

Having test driven both I know the auto box is very good but it does cost more to buy and more to run which is my primary reason for buying the manual. I've always prefered the extra control you get with a manual but I must admit after trying the D3 auto I was very impressed and did consider it briefly.
