Just found neither front or rear parking aids are working and if I try to switch them on using the swich on the facia, the switch flashes 6 times and still nothing works.
It is booked in at the dealers next week, but has any one else had this problem ?

My parking sensors have been playing up recently too, they work but then don't turn off till I switch the car off and on again !
Seems to happen more after the car has just been washed I think the water could be getting in somewhere

Are they supposed to be operated manually? I had to switch my fronts on this morning when parking close to a wall, thought they would work automatically.

The fronts come on when you go into reverse so if you are say parallel parking you don't need to switch them on whilst manoeuvring, if you haven't gone into reverse first you have to switch them on manually Cheers Ian

ISTR the early ones switched on automatically below a certain speed when going forward, at least it did on my 06 HSE. That was changed when peeps complained that they were being triggered too much in stop-start traffic. Much more useful in the "old" mode IMHO.

I've only got rear sensors fitted, and no switch, they come on automatically when in reverse.
Think ice affects them though.... 59 D4 XS (2.7 TDV6 6 speed Manual) Commercial (UK spec) with extras such as Premium Navigation.

Thanks for this thread, been driving me nuts.
Our previous D3 was F/R automatically
On the D4 it seems the reverse are always on, however, Front only seem to go on when you first switch on and then when you pull away they go off, Bleeding annoying that when you then decide to park you have to manually switch them on. A pessimist is an optimist with experience
