Ah but as peeps know i'm bitter & twisted & lost any faith in JLR ages ago. A D3 (facelifted or original) is the best car in the world IF it's decided to play properly. For me it's suitable as an offroader/play car. I have the best of both worlds, a D3 and a sensible, reliable & economical car in my 520d estate.

I think he's referring to the RRS that he has on loan, not his Disco. I can't believe that you'd have grounds to reject at this stage, if it's a vacuum pipe then it's a reasonably straight forward fix and I think you have to accept that sometimes parts are faulty. Provided it runs fine when fixed I wouldn't worry too much, it's too soon to start panicking. On the point about turbo lag, mine's done 1500 now and it's still quite noticeable, I am very light with the right foot though and wonder if some of this is down to driving style?

I think he was talking about two things, answering about the RRS question hence the mileage stated and at the same time updating what was 'supposedly' found to be wrong with his car and the fact the part is on back order. What a great way to start with a new car, what if he had been going on holiday? Sorry but that is just unacceptable and they have been getting away with shoddy service for far too long, if I had my time again I would have rejected mine and demanded compensation, I am still affected by my experience hence my post here, it is wrong.

yes, I was refering to the mileage on the RRS they have lent me.
Our Disco 4 had exactly 83 miles on the clock when it failed.
To be honest, I can't fault the resonse of Guy Salmon. They have delivered me a replacement car from their own stock ( a brand new RRS) and not pushed me towards Enterprise, which is what usually happens!
Their sales manager has just called me to make sure we are happy keeping the RRS over the weekend, and that we don't want a Disco dropping off.
She tells me that the problem with ours is a hole in the vacuum pipe which is connected to one of the turbos. My argument is that surely this should have been picked up by quality control at the factory, or even on the PDI.
At least they have found a definate problem and hopefully they will fix it and we'll be ok!
Just glad we were not due to go away this weekend to France or something!
This is the 4th landrover product we have had, and to be honest, none of them have been reliable!
We had a FFRR in 2004 which was a nightmare, and that's why we changed to a Disco 3!
The Disco 3 packed up in France when it was 2 weeks old and had to be re patriated to the UK due to an ECU failure. That did make me mad because I was stuck in France with a twin axle caravan and 3 young kids, and enterprise sent us a Ford Maverick to tow the van back with!
Our last Disco 4 (2011 6 speed SDV6) was never right. It was in and out the dealers on a regular basis, and hence the reason we got a good deal to change to this one!
However, try as I might, I just cannot think of another car that would suit my wife better than a Disco! She needs 7 seats, and we genuinely like the image of the car, and when it goes right, its a lovely car!
Just wish they could get the quality control right!!

I seem to have been lucky with my 59 D4 Commercial (2.7 manual).....so far apart from the battery losing charge when left outside in freezing conditions (and that's only been this year and not during the big freezes of the past two years!) nothing else has failed on it whatsoever........ 59 D4 XS (2.7 TDV6 6 speed Manual) Commercial (UK spec) with extras such as Premium Navigation.

dealer says a rat had eaten through the vacuum pipe!
had the car back fro 3 days now, but it just doen't feel right!
When you accelerate from low revs , there is no pull at all until the revs hit about 2300k and then the power just kicks in very agressively.
there's something wrong so its going back next week.
Hope they can sort it cos we are going skiing in 2 weeks!

I had exactley the sam fault and i did not even get off the forcourt accelarator module car now done 106000 miles a few faults whilst under warranty but with all modern cars and trucks to many electrics ,get it sorted and happy days I want one Jelious
