I have a consumption of 9.3 - 9.8 liters/100 km. But I have to say that I drive a lot of motorway with cruise control. My Kyoto is fantastic

Si.
Me too! 500 mls would be worth celebrating. Post-1st service, the mpg read-out (I have NEVER re-set it) has settled around 25.9 which is slightly up on the pre-service reading of 24.4. The real-world consumption is about 10% worse for both of these figures, as, so far, I've never seen more than 430 miles out of a brim-to-brim tankful. And that's whilst being driven fairly gently - no violent accelleration, only about 30% round town, the rest at a steady 50-60mph. When on the motorway, never over 85. Oh well... DGRR

On a recent trip I set the cruise to 85kph for 200km and the trip computer showed 7.8 to 8.0 ltrs/100kph. When I topped up the fuel used, to odometer reading was 7.75ltr/100! or about 36mpg. On 2 recent trips, Adelaide to Melbourne about 1400km return including city driving where the highway speeds are 110kph in South Aus. and 100kph in Victoria the average has been 10.0 to 10.ltr/100 for both trips. These figures are as good as I could get in the 300Td1. S White, TdV6, air suspension, 110ltr Long Range tank, Kaymar wheel carrier, aux. battery, adjustable cargo barrier, LR snorkel(waterproofed), reversing and front camera, Cooper tyres and tyre sensors, Codan NGT. I've come pretty close.
I filled up week before last (to the top of the filler tube) with BP Ultimate. Did a run to Doncaster and back, a bit of local running around over the weekend then a run to Kent and back on one tank.
Total mileage 592.3 I refilled to the top of the filler with 81.98 lts
That puts the average somewhere around 32.8mpg (unless my maths is wrong, which is highly likely).

Just took this video today - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3102820239667423289
Just to show the unbelievers that 30+ MPG is possible in an auto D3 when driven normally. By no means was this example a clear run - around 10 miles at slow speeds up and down some quite steep hills, a few cold starts, and then stuck in stop-go traffic for 30mins. Also a bit of weight in the back, maybe 50KG. Also have a nice heavy winch at the front which doesn't help either!
Quality is crap but you can barely make out the display cycling from: 31.1MPG (it later went to 31.5 before falling back to 31.0 by the end of my journey) - AV Speed of 41.5MPH - Trip 197.1 miles - Range 397 miles. Note the tank is still 3/4 full and almost 200 miles travelled since filling up IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

JOMO, I reckon you could have done it with that one, from empty (but not run out) to FULL, I've had about 86ltrs in it, so assuming there was still 4ltr in the car, thats about another 25 miles.
Trouble is, actually reaching 600 is a lot harder than nearly getting there
I reckon my new D3 is more economical than the last - but I can't be bothered to try at the moment, and the AT2's are probably knocking about 30miles off per tankfull, but they grip well offroad D3 number 3: 08 TDV6 SE Stormygrey /owlpacker

Hi all,
How long does it take to fill your Diesel tank right up to where you can see the fuel in the filler neck?
On mine the pump clicks off with about 8Litres to go and then it takes about 5 minutes of slow filling as the foam returns up the filler neck so quickly. Smae actually used to happen on my D2. regards
Peter

Hello All,
Just drove back 50 miles on dual carriageway A road. Got stuck behind two duelling Artics' at 56 mph, and decided I couldn't be arsed with flogging it. So, I reset the trip and watched the average consumption. At one point it showed 47mpg!
Alright, so I didn't have to put my foot down to get up to speed as I was already doing 56, and there was no sharp braking for junctions, etc., but I was pretty impressed.
Got overtaken by a Prius... ha ha ha! 17" alloys with Cooper ST 240/75, G4 Snorkel, A Bar, Spots and sump guard.

I am getting a 'real' average of around 30/31 mpg (based on tank calcs.) and the trip is showing 31-32. This means that I do get over 600 miles per tank.
Most of my mileage is motorway run twice a week, but the rest if varied A roads, B roads and M4/A329M. Good use of C/C.
MPG does not drop that much during the course of the week, say 2-3 mpg at most, but I pick my travel time to avoid heavy traffic and I drive very steady.
