Limp Home made again

Limp Home made again

Well its happened again .First time it was the throttle pedal, had a new one fitted 3 months ago.

Now it drives to the first hill which is 30 yards away and pops in limp home mode.
A switch off and restart and it will do the same again.
I am just getting a small amount of smoke when I start up for just a few seconds, nothing I have not seen before over the years.
There was a sound like a distant police siren slowing down when I lifted my foot off the throttle when it first happened and the car was warm, testing it now for 100 yards I cant hear it.

Fault codes are
P006A Manifold Absolute Pressure –Mass or Volume Air Flow Correlation (Intermittent )

P1247 Turbocharger Boost Pressure Low
Algorithm Based Failure – Event Information (Intermittent)

P0235 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit (Intermittent)

Also at the same time 1 mile ago 00BD0720 Invalid Fault code ( intermittent)

Then 100 miles ago P2269 Water in fuel condition
General Signal Failure –Signal is out of Range/Zero Adjustment Failure (Intermittent)


Some codes are mentioned in other posts but the symptoms are not quite the same.

Any clues welcome before I take it to the dealers.

Might be a long shot but could it be a sticky turbo actuator? I know Geoff recently sorted this issue and IIRC the symptoms were similar ( But not exactly) as you describe. I'm sure if you give Geoff a shout, he'd be able to at least point you in the right direction. He may have already patented his bespoke tool for this job already though Shocked

A sticking/stuck Turbo Boost Solenoid valve .

If anyone can tell me where it is I will have a look at it.

It happende to me at about 55k miles. In theory you can get to it from above behind the radiator and down but you need very small hands. It is off side near the bottom of engine. In practice, LRA seem to take the cover off inside the front wheel well which allows them to give it a push and free it. You don't need to take the wheel off, but I can't remember if you need a special tool to ge tthe clips off, and I am not by my car. Once freed, if you don't go over 2200 rpm, no more problem. Only thing is, depending on age, might be better to get LRA or dealer to see it as they should fit a new one for you FOC as it is a kinown design fault, the material at the top of the shaft is somehow responsible.

Thanks for the info.
I took it into the dealer this morning and they think it is the Turbo Boost Solenoid valve and that there is a updated one.

I will report back when its done.

Ok Got the car back and it is fixed.

It was the Tubo Boost Solenoid Valve but they now have a repair kit rather than have to change the whole unit.

Dont know the price yet as it takes a week or two to send me the bill. ( I have an account)

Cost was £260 inc VAT
Part was LR033284 Kit - Actuator Shut
@ hrs Charged for.
