Best bet is get a set from Nick at Yeoville LR (The Large One) and fit yourself - dead easy to fit, just one bit the Land Rover instructions dont show clearly is to remove the covers from the ends of the existing loom inside the passenger side rear cubby hole.

Nick does a discount for DISCO3 so you get a better price than sites like ebay.

Hi,

Indespension at Reading will supply and fit for £80+VAT but I didnt really want to travel that far.

I am a complete looser when it comes to electrics, water and hydraulics -fine, but not electrics!!!.

Any one out there?

There must be info & pics if you do a search. The twin electrics which i have are the two sockets with wiring loom all attached, and plugs which simply plug into the connectors which are located in the near side compartment in the boot.

Ok, opened up the nearisde accress side panel in the boot and saw one grey connector hanging down, which houses around 4 cables. Is this the 'loom' people mention that you connect to??.

If so, I am assuming the the electrical lead supplied needs to go through the dumped and up into the side of the car. How does this occur?

Told you I was an electrical numpty!!!

It really is simple. Just follow the LR instructions.

The only bit the Lr instructions aren't clear about is that you need to remove the plastic covers from the end of the loom, the rest is a doddle.

Check the price with Nick, as the £80 fitted sounds cheap - is it a new genuine LR kit, or some dodgy hack about with the wiring to put a cheapo set of connectors on??

The only bit you need to get sorted professionally is getting the D3 to recognize the kit is there - or else the rear PDC will not disable when the electrics are in use, and also the suspension will change height when towing if you change the terrain modes. The local LR dealership did mine as a favour as I had already put the kit on, when they were doing a warranty job.

The quote was from Indespension in Reading, obviously a reputable trailer dealer.

So you would recommend getting the LR proper kit would you?, other items no good?.

Does the LR come with the fitting destructions then?.

The LR kit is the only way to go, as the D3 electrics are geared up for it to slot straight in, and you have a proper LR warranty on the part when you buy it. The Indespension one could be anything - it would be worth checking with them as it may be a genuine part that they get a good deal on. If its not I would avoid it as the D3 probably will not talk to it, as the air suspension and park sensors need to be aware that the car has towing capabilities. - also when you get rid of the D3 the LR genuine kit will be worth ££ if you take it off and ebay it.

Top man Glynne - I was looking for that, but the LR site is slow at the moment!!

If you do fit the genuine one, the steps 16b and 17 mean to look at the plastic covers on the looms and then remove them, I did mine in the dark, and was convinced Id got the wrong loom!!

Don't throw the bungs away as it says in the instructions, as if you take it off again in the future, you can fit them back.

Good Luck

Darind, good shout....I'll give them a call and check it talks to the car etc etc. Bow down

Decisions decisions.... would still feel more comfortable paying £50 for it to be done properly though! Mr. Green
