Trying to get heated seats working, help needed !
I've got a disco 4 commercial and i'm trying to get the heated seats working, they are full leather so i'm assuming the have the heater pads installed. I've bought the control unit for the dash and have installed it today..... plugged in the iid tool and found the heated seats and enabled them then uploaded the setting. so far so good, lights on the buttons for the seats are working so i thought i'd cracked it first attempt but i have no heat from either the driver or passenger seat ? I've done a few searches on the forum, it seems some people have just been plug and play and others have had to enable. I'm now stuck as to why it's not worked ? has anyone else done the same mod if so what am I missing ?

Do you actually know if the heater elements are installed?
Think I'd be confirming they are there first. I'm fairly sure you can have unheated leather seats

Agree, probably not got heating elements fitted.
Be warned though, they do take a short while to warm up, it's not instant heat. Mods:

I'd read on here somewhere that as a rule of thumb if it has leather usually there are heated pads inside? I'll open the black box under the seats tomorrow and see how many plug/connectors are in there. After having a quick look under the seat today I saw 4 cables/wire's so was thinking they would be present. Went out for a 20min trip definitely no heat coming from the seats themselves.

Have you got any further with your heated seats? I have a standard spec D4 with leather upgrade and I'm not sure if they have heating elements regardless of whether they are activated or not. What do you look for to determine if they are present or not? I can get a hold of an HSE HVAC unit with buttons, so interested in trying to activate them.

Presumably heated seats have the electrical connections and the none heated don't.

I've taken a photo under the drivers seat and can see lots of wires, a box of some sort and numerous cables going off into different parts of the seat. The seats are totally manual so I assume they won't be for control gear for electrical adjustment would they? Any thoughts?

If you've got 4 cables out the back of that box then it's the same as mine. I'm hoping I don't have to go down the route of sourcing seats, does anyone know if the pads can be retro fitted ? Or failing that a quality over the seat item built into a seat cover ?

Hmm so it's looking more difficult than originally thought all I want is heated seats, oh and maybe the parking heater. Could also do with a mantec or similar load lugger and I'll be either buying or making a drawer system in the rear ....... not much to ask really

I managed to get a photo of the back of that box and there are at least 4 plugs connected, each with 2 cables coming out as far as I can see. As you'll see out the the 4 plugs there are 2 yellow, one blue and one magenta/red. Is that the same set up as yours 2seaterhero? I'm picking up some Xenon headlamp units tomorrow to replace the rubbish halogen units and will have to go to my local independent so they can activate them for me on the CCF, so I'll ask them to have a look.

I can't get a good look at the back of the box on mine as It's a commercial so the bulkhead/cage is it the way, I'm going out now to unscrew the cover from the front of the box for a pic....... I'm starting to think my only hope of getting the heated seats is to change the seats completely.

Why not fit heating elements to the leather seats you have as if the elements fail people replace them I can't see it being anymore difficult?Welsh Collie Chauffeur Service To Barney & Rooney.
