It might seem a bit trivial but then if you don't ask.....
Has anyone noticed an unusual Disco 3 appetite for brake light bulbs? I've now had to replace 4-5 (lost count) & we've only 20K on the clock. It's not the hassle factor, as I can now change a bulb in less than 2 minutes, but I am concerned about some hitherto undiagnosed issue developing Richard

my disco II did the same. try LED bulbs as they work for ages. as for normal ones they all seem to fail early. remember though the saying that the firm that made the everlasting light bulbs has just gone bust!

Strange...
I never had a problem with those bulbs in over 25.000km...
There might be something else to that appetite...

I've gone through two sets in 43k. The only other bulb replacement has been one of the rear reg plate lamps. My theory is because its an auto, you pend an awful lot of time with your foot on the brake.

Saw a D3 on the M6 yesterday with No working brake lamps, just the high level led's were working.
Tried to catch up to warn him, but he was very quick.

Most car accessory shops in UK sell them, so should be same in Aus? If not, start importing them and make your million

Does anyone here use any of these?
If so, what do they look like brightness/etc.
Do they physically look odd in the lamp?

I was going to say "34000km and no blown bulbs!", but that may be tempting fate!
Why would you want to brake anyway? Have a nice day!

Where do you get said LEDs?
In Australia, Jaycar have a listing for LED globes for vehicles ranging from $9.95 to $19.95 in red, yellow, white but are specifically sold for "...for show or offroad use only". So I don't know why that would be. Maybe they are too tough for modest on-road use and only like the rough stuff. Or they could be unrated for wattage therefore the vehicle inspectors would be unable to determine if the vehicle was otherwise 'roadworthy'. LeighW

On the subject of LEDs (hope we haven't strayed too far from the thread) I just spoke with a sales person (a motorcycle rider) from Jaycar about why LED replacements are sold as unsuitable for on-road use. He says they produce too much glare.
Is that a problem that other users have noticed where LEDs have been used as replacements? LeighW
