Cant get my wheels off now ! ended.

Looks like I have two broken lock nuts on both front and rear wheels. I had hoped to have 20s removed for balancing but will be lucky if I can get them off at all. The aluminium cap that covers the lock nut has broken and now spins freely. The local tyre place couldnt get the wheel off. Going into a mechanic this afternoon to have the nuts drilled out. So as a wise man once said "Chris Tyler" chuck those locknuts away! Will keep you posted Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

PS. Barrg sorry for laughing at you when you had the freelander last week

Googsy

after talking to you on the phone the only other option we thought was to weld a nut onto the end of the wheel nut...need to be a good strong weld and then use a brace to take them off

I hadn't got your number to call back so hopefully you get this before you go out again

I wouldnt have thought you could get a welding rod down inside the wheel hole (where the nut goes) to be able to weld another nut on the top.

The old joke used to be - park it in Liverpool, wheels off in no time.

I guess you don't want to damage the alloy. Only thing I can think of is drill down the center of the stud (with the top of the locker missing, can you see the end of the stud), and then fit a new stud.

Sorry for your problems Googsy but I think Al Cope may have been alluding to this old chestnut....

Ferrari Formula 1 Team have announced that they have fired their entire Pit Crew yesterday. The action followed Ferrari's decision to take advantage of the British Government's Work For the Dole Scheme and hire unemployed youths from Liverpool.

The decision was brought on by a recent documentary on how unemployed Scousers were able to remove a set of car wheels in less than 6 seconds with just a pair of mole grips each. Whereas Ferrari's exisiting crew can only do it in 8 seconds with millions of pounds worth of high-tech equipment. This was thought to be an excellent and bold move by Ferrari management.

As most modern day F1 races are won and lost in the pits, Ferrari are seen to now have a massive advantage over every other team!

Ferrari, however, got more than they bargained for today in the Scouse Crews first practice session. Not only were they able to change the tyres in under 6 seconds but within 12 seconds they had also resprayed, rebadged, and sold the vehicle to the McLaren Team for four dozen cans of Special Brew, a gram of Coke and a quick shuffty at David Coulthard's bird in the shower!

Laughing
 I see no ships........
