Went into the garage for a service where they picked up below thickness front disks.
Fitted Brembo disks and pads, replaced wear sensor as the original fell apart when I tried to remove it.
Several brake tests gave smooth even control right up to tyres starting to whine. Once home both wheels slightly warm and the same temp. key point as the offside original pads were noticably more worn. Something to keep an eye on.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an MG5 EV

Another year
MOT time again 202k and she lives on for another year.
Passed with advisories, slight play in steering rack and side repeaters slightly discoloured
So in the last year we've replaced suspension compressor, coolant T piece, oil and filter. Not bad for 05 V8 with over 200k. We can live with that

Autumn service. New oil+filter, cabin filter and air filter. Replaced front brake hose assemblies, still the original -08 ones. Previous owner got stiffed by the stealers on THAT service. Also learned that that brake light comes on if there is too much brake fluid

Red letter day today!
1) Diesel Heater came on! I had just ordered a KKL obd2 to USB cable to exorcise the Webasto lock-out gremlins and it is due to arrive tomorrow, but the FBH got there ahead of it. Really don't understand why. It was working fine on GAP tool but not on its own, even after resetting with fuse removal and didn't come on in the frost earlier in the week.
2) No Fault codes! I had been getting recurrent EGR codes over the last couple of weeks and tried one of these aerosol air-intake cleaners, with no real expectation of it achieving anything. But having cleared the codes before leaving home this morning, there were no codes, or pending codes 80 miles later!
3) Picked up a full set of 17 inch rims so that I can have two different sets of tyres. Cheers, Iain, if you are a member here!Previously:

Having seen a couple of 11.8V warnings on the dash and a couple of 15.3V warnings, I ordered a new battery last week and fitted it today. All very straightforward and simple...
I had previously noticed that the lid of the battery cover didn't fit properly, due to the mis-aligned live-cable grommet on the lower portion of the box. What I hadn't spotted was the complete absence of a battery retaining bracket and the absence of a breather hose... Once the old battery was out, I found the breather hose - as a two dimensional piece of rubber that had clearly been bearing the weight of the battery for the last 5 years! One of the sets of cables at the back of the battery, along with a black box with a light grey clip (not really sure what this is!) seems to have been forced down into the well at the back of the battery, in a position that just doesn't look right. I'm assuming that the battery caught on this as it was being installed and was just pushed on down. There is a vacant metal bracket that the box was perhaps meant to clip onto. Sadly there was no indication on the battery of who had fitted it and it might perhaps be unfair to jump to the conclusion of a H*****ds installation...
So the new battery is in and everything is in a better state than before, but it's back to eBay for a breather hose and the retaining bracket/bolts.Previously:

Calibrated the steering angle sensor. Got up yesterday and had multiple lights on - special programs not available etc. Did a calibration of the steering angle sensor and Hey Presto! it's back to normal duty.
Great tools these GAP IID thingies.
