Automatic turning off of radio system
I often pick my son up from various activities he does and as with all kids he never appears at the pre arranged pick up time
This means I spend much of my life sat in the Disco listening to music on the radio
Obviously I turn the engine off waiting but I get really fed up of having to keep switching the radio system back on after it automatically shuts down
My question is , is there a way of stopping the radio automatically turning off after a period of time or at least lengthening the time before it does so

I have asked the same question before Steve B, but to no avail. So annoying that the radio switches off after 10 mins. I could understand 1 hr or even half that. Surely there must be a fix around this...
Question: with the TV fitted, does it shut down in the same time?Communication is the breakfast of champions...

Yes - pain in the wotsits! I don't want to sit there with the engine running to keep it alive - am thinking of fitting a leisure battery set up and seeing if I can wire the radio/tv to that...probably beyond my capabilities though Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE '65 - Projects in planning phase!

Out of interest does it just shut off, or does it flag up a low battery warning on the Nav screen first?

It shuts off automatically after a time limit to preserve the battery. If you keep turning it back on several times you would eventually get the low battery warning, depending on the state of your battery at the time.Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE '65 - Projects in planning phase!

I get this message after only 4 or 5 mins. Even with a power supply connected and battery voltage at 13.6 volts!
when you say battery voltage is 13.6, was that with meter across terminals ?

Yes it’s not the best feature of the car but it seems most modern cars do this to preserve the vehicle battery, nothing worse than returning to the car and the battery’s flat because the radio was left on, not much help, as an alternative if you’ve got a mobile phone like most these days you could play your music on that assuming of course you phone battery is charged,

It's a feature of later D4s I think. My 2010 vintage keeps the radio on for a good while, not sure off hand whether it's 20 or 30 minutes.
So if anyone wants to do a swap....

No. My iid tool said 13.6v and confirmed my my meter.
I've reset the battery monitoring system with my iid last night but not had time to test yet.
