Hi Ambrosian,
Yes, I managed to eventually find one that worked, it took purchasing several beforehand so I now have plenty of spares for other jobs!
It was actually my Dad who found it so I'll ask him if he can remember where he brought it from and whether he has the link.

Hi Ambrosian,
I believe this is the one that eventually worked:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00S6I...&psc=1
Once up and running I've had no issues with it other than occassionally taking a few minutes to pick up a satellite, although this maybe because the cable is behind the dash.

Thanks for the Link Corona,
Andy I believe most people have added screen on the base models where no screen was originally fitted rather than replace the factory fit model as that offers a host of different issues, but has been done. Searching the forum there must be at least a dozen people who’ve added this Sat Nav or the earlier 5” version of the Garmin.

I just got some metal plate and bent it to form the angle suitable for the satnav to lean against and wedge in the hole where the LR satnav would sit, with the cable through a hole at the back behind the dash 'H' section.
I did purchase and cut a satnav trim down however due to the large size of the satnav there was hardly anything left. This is the one area I'm not too happy with and need to find a nice finish trim, or fabricate one. The upside is that I can remove the satnav easily for updates via the PC in the house.

Factory satnav is removed on mine |

You can remove the factory satnav. I used the bottom plate of the satnav to make a mount for the Garmin Drivesmart 61. This model of GPS fits the outer trim piece perfect.
Once removed, all you need to do is get a fiber optic (most) loop and plug it in, instead of the satnav box.
No need to reprogram the CCF or any other odd effects once it is removed.
As for signal, only on a few occasions have I had problems with it not locking on to enough satellites to work, even when it is in the dash.
If you have a satnav already, look here for one way to do it.

Rufflyer that looks really good fitted.
My D3 did not have the factory screen installed so the dash sections are filled in meaning the size of the satnav won't allow it to sit deeply enough inside the who for the screen surround I purchased.
I'll just have to find another way to make/add a trim to finish it off properly.
