Lowest miles D3
Hi,
Do I have the lowest miles D3 at 58,042miles on a 2009 D3 ?
I bought in 4 years ago with 29,000 on, looking at the MOT history some years it only did 600 miles or less and most of those were to get serviced
Anyone even close to that ?Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

I don't think its a good idea to use a car like this only for a few miles.
A diesel, certainly this stroke volume, should be used for long trips, at least 30 or 40 miles each time.
I don't know how you keep it. In a heated garage on a trickle charger it will be OK, but even then if
your oil has acumulated water it will end up in acid with the sulfer in the combustion left overs scraped
of by the scraper rings. This makes etched zones in many places, where oil and water seperate.
There it could develop into a weak spot for any sort of load. At least take it for a long drive every month,
or do not make short rides just before you store it for a long time.

I am always suspicious of ultra low mileage vehicles and always ask why! - peeps don’t pay £40-50 for a vehicle and don’t use them, laid up after an accident is one main cause, theft another It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Generally, yes.... but there’s always the random Greek shipping magnate who bought one for his holiday apartment and used it twice a year. Or little old lady who liked the look and drove with it only on her estate & to the nearest store. Not very common but these do exist.
Of course, if you ask a car salesman, most vehicles are always used by little old ladies, never revved, FSH only, no expense spared, never driven outside a paved road, ....

My 2010 d4 has only done 64k, and at the age is low milage.
I only do 3k a year so won't go up much, used for dog walking and uk holidays twice a year, the odd air port run and so on.
Nothing sinister in that, as for being bad for a car, they seem to fail at low medium and high milages, so who's to say.

Hi,
It milage in my ownership is a bit more normal, but even then its low as I work from home a lot so its only a bi weekly run to the airport/train station or a school run. Neither is too short so its about ideal.
As has been said, its not iffy someone with some money seemingly used it for a second/third car as its a well specced HSE, inside was unmarked so its had a soft life.
PS just drove it round my field with a trailer load of brush to the bonfire site.Disco 3: Lotus Elise S1: Ferguson T20: Audi A2

Mine was owned from new by company CEO and only used when he was back at home, which was not often. Low mileage doesn't mean no issues though, mine has had all the standard D3 V8 problems,MAF, Throttle body, puv valve, sunroof drains, central locking etc. It is after all a 15yr old car.
I have another car for going to work and shops, I only use the Disco when it's going somewhere safe2007 HSE Stornoway with Alpacca
