Bye Bye Black Betty
Well, the time has come for Betty to go - almost. I don't think I've ever been attached to car quite like this before. I think SN and Gareth were saying in another thread about how normally you get bored of a car and start looking for an alternative - that doesn't happen when you drive a D3 8)
I've now started to strip her down, ready for the return. This is her in Cornwall, about a month ago.
The rack is now off, and today Ken spent 5 hours removing 3 years of bramble rash and scrathes from the paintwork. Cheers Ken - a lot of work, and great results
After the main polish, just needs a wash and polish (apparently )

Wow! Look at the detail! Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
Certainly looks a cracking job - "Funny, mine doesn't do that......."

Nice one Stu ....and Ken
Now I know what type of finish to look forward to 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

So judging from the fourth shot, you didn't bother polishing and just had it all chrome plated??? - "Funny, mine doesn't do that......."

It looked good after Ken just washed it properly - then he just kept polishing, tutting, polishing, tutting. Looked fine to me, but apparently he could see something
I asked a local 'detailer' about polishing out the bramble rash, but he was reluctant as he said the Disco paint was thin and not recommended for deep polishing. That finish looks great - so it looks like he was talking bo cks?Previously:

Are you sure they didn't just wrap it while you looked the other way. Have you seen how fast they were doing those MINI's ??"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
