BTW, the 'special people' use ropes - ever tried capstaning round a tree with a strop?

 No, you don't use a capstan winch, but use a tree or rock as the capstan 8)

I think TFC has covered it already, but I'm after the ropes as they have 10% give in them which makes for easier towing due to the shock absorbing quality this provides - that and the hooks justify the extra cost for me. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Hi MrH just signed up for 10mtr, question, for anyone with the know how would it be possible to halve the
rope and attach the two hooks to the disco for a short length tow, without damage to the rope. maybe use
a shackle at the other end so as not to cut into the rope? Always walk behind a Shooter and

Yes! used that method a few times 
you'll need a 6 tonne bow shackle to get both hooks onto the D3 rear recovery point though

I have a wagon and it gets left for 1-2-3 weeks at a time and sometimes the battery goes down Tacho etc,
draining it over a period, I have to get SWMBO up at 4.30am to give me a snatch (she is not well pleased)
dont have much room to tow it 10yds is enough normaly, hence the need for a shorter rope.

Just updated the initial post with confirmed prices.

Prices confirmed 29/12/08 as:
5mtr £43.93 (ex-VAT) - 10%, plus VAT = £45.47 + P&P
8mtr £44.90 (ex-VAT) - 10%, plus VAT = £46.47 + P&P
10mtr £47.20 (ex-VAT) - 10%, plus VAT = £48.85 + P&P
As I want to ensure we get these ropes in time for the Snowdonia event on the 25th Jan, I'm setting the closing date to 6PM on the 8th January - that should allow for those currently on holidays to get chance to join in.
I've agreed with the suppliers to make this a single order, so I'll use my flexible friend to pay for the whole order and will then collect the ropes and distribute via the D3 Courier network as much as possible - I'll also offer to arrange DHL delivery for those who want it and they can then pay the extra once I have a price (Current estimate is it shouldn't be more than £12 for UK mainland delivery), but I do want to keep this to an absolute minimum.
Now the important bit:
I will send a PM to all registered so far with details of payment options - no credit given, before anyone asks, just ways to get the dosh to me, please respond to it as soon as possible - thanks.
I'm not making any money on this, neither is the site, so please make a donation to Disco3.co.uk if you part-take in this group buy.

Just realised I'd done VAT at 17.5% not 15%, sorry  - just edited the quotes, but haven't changed the PMs that have gone out.
