My dealer said that they would note the tyre damage on their system and if the tyres did wear faster than they should because of this damage they would put a claim into LR for them to be replaced. Smile

I have just had my second new set of replacement tyres on the front of our D3. The first set of all 4 tyres wore out prematurely but I paid £300 to get all 4 replaced and realingned. That was back in June 2005 which was before LR admitted to their errors in factory set up. However when front set again wore out unevenly I got really stroppy with my dealer and insisted that they replace them at their (or LR's) cost. They have now done so, so I now have a brand new pair of Scorpions on the front (and a part worn set of Wranglers on the rear).

Uneven Tyre Wear TSB

I just called my local dealer and mentioned the TSB# because I had issues with my tyres. They recently wheel-aligned mine but the wear got worst. What he told me was that this TSB# is not the US-models - eventhough my VIN# falls within the range. I wonder if he is just saying something to get round with it.

How would I contact the LR-US to confirm this TSB#?

thanks,

Andyv

Andy, the TSB isn't listed on the NA version of GTR, however, the UK 'master' site lists it as:-
"No.LA204-008
31 July 2006

Subject/Concern: Discovery 3/LR3 - Uneven Tire Wear

Models:
Discovery 3 / LR3 Vin range: 5A300259-6A403382

Markets: All

Section: 204-00"

And is therefore applicable to the US....
ask your dealer to log on using 'rest of world' (although it may be a shock to them that human life prevails beyond the coasts of the US Wink ) and then everything should become clear

andyv - when the dealer does finally locate said TSB (LA204-008 Discovery 3/LR3 - Uneven Tire Wear ) point out the reference to LR3 (North American markets only model) and the spelling of tyre as 'tire'.

That should convince him; even if he doesn't read down to where it says Markets: All

Good luck with a successful outcome, Leigh

Uneven Tyre Wear TSB

I need help on this one. My dealership here in the Dallas area just told me I have to buy a new set of tyres and to have an alignment again (after I paid them to correct the issue 4 mos ago) even after I told them all these TSBs. Their say on the TSBs? they said it is just service instructions.

Meaning, they are not accepting responsibility of it nor trying to work something out with Land Rover.

What should be my next step? any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Call LR Customer Service and explain to them what the history is and what your concerns are.

Andyv,
So they are now admitting the TSB exists then?
Maybe they haven't read this bit:-
"Labour Time:
Operation Description Operation No. Time
Geometry alignment 57.65.04 2.70 hours

Repair/Claim Coding:
Causal Part
: ALGN4W
ACES Condition Code: W6
Defect Code: "
As Simon suggests, escalate the issue to LRCS if the dealer is being 'difficult' Wink

I also had uneven tyre wire on the back tyres. I brougth it back to LR-dealer for service and, although they were aware that the early models needed re-allignment "early-on", at first they wanted me to pay for the re-alligment, but when I showed them the TSB they re-alligned my car free of charge. I also asked them to replace the worn tyres. They had to check with LR. I got reply back yesterday that LR declines to replace the worn tyres. I don't think this is right, since unusual wear was caused by factory fault. Anybody else in Australia had same experience, but got their tyres replaced free of charge ? I would like to hear.

RAK, my D3 had a free wheel alignment (and wheel rotation) at 12,000 km when I pointed out uneven tyre wear on both front and rear insides.

My tyre wear was not sufficient to warrant replacement (I also spoke to my independent tyre supplier about this) but the dealer is aware of my concerns.

In your case LRA may have not have agreed to replacement because:

1) Tyre(s) might not be worn to unsafe levels
2) Or may have travelled less than say 25,000 km.

Do you do predominantly city driving with lots of cornering on coarse/smooth bitumen surfaces, by any chance?
