The advert in LROI shows the Xjack, but the jack on their website isn't clear.

a wild thought re air jack storage:

do you reckon this could be stored in the spare wheel well?
I know the wheel would have to be slung with 'facing side' down and that the jack would need to be fitted around the central retention wire [within a strong plastic bag for protection].
havn't seen the jack in real life so don't know of its bulk.

as I said, a wild thought??

I asked JJ if they had airjacks when I was there last week. He said they had but they werent tested or proved with the D3 and would let me know when they were .

Fitting the spare upside down is very likely to damage it when you winch it up

Err, no going on here, you try it if you want, even if you do protect it I wouldn't risk driving off road with it like that as you could damage the wheel and/or winch. All seems a bit OTT, why don't you just put the air jack in the back? Confused

[Stop it!]

Response from JJ on the air jack showing on the Frogs website:
"To be honest they are fine for lighter vehicles, but for D3's and Landcruisers they are a little light weight. Greg (Aviators) tested 1 for me before Desert Storm and had a few issues. We eventually supplied an ARB air bag jack which is also rated to 4000KG, but the quality is superior."
He has one of the ARB ones in stock, the price is good and he's offering a healthy discount to site members but I've asked if it's available for trial before anyone commits themselves

ARB air bag jack

Afternoon all.

The ARB air bag jack has proven to be very reliable, tested in Morocco, southern sahara, Wales, Peak district and french alpes to name a few places. I would suggest its a better product than the 1 advertised on our website (which will be removed). If any body would like a demo, perhaps 1 could be arranged at the next pub meet. Or if anybody happens to be passing the door.

Bye for now.

Merry Xmas
Happy new year

JJ & family
