Since I bought the vehicle ive had a little Mod ive been wanting to do for ages...well a few days ago whilst it was dry but cold I finished it..
Illuminated air vents..
A bit of a how to...
Purchase 4 of these "grain of wheat bulbs"
I purchased mine from the local model shop but im sure theres hundreds of outlets selling them.
Then you need to remove all the air vents..Driver side, passenger side and the "H" trim vents. Once removed you need to insert the bulbs through the little hole in the Air Vent Wheel
To hold the bulbs in place I put a dab of hot glue on the wires just above my finger in the lower pic.
As I had my cigarette lighter console out to change the bulb I was able to tap into the live feed. The orange connector is the live for the cigarette bulb, the blue is the new live feed for the bulbs.
It is then just a case of wiring the bulbs in parralel.

I wanted them to dim with the instrument panel lights but couldnt find a suitable place to splice into a live.
I noticed that my cigarette lighter light had blown so as I had the radio out, heater controls and cigarette console out I could spliced into the single red wire feeding the little bulb holder. this in turn allowed the dimming effect I was after. I took the earth/ground from behind the left hand air vent (hex screw into the metal frame)
Used 4 green Grain of Wheat bulbs from my local model shop and glued them into the vent wheel at the back.
The vent wheel has a little hole in the middle which the bulbs fitted through perfectly although on the left hand air vent I had to remove the cup holder for better access.
You need to run the bulbs in parallel, I tried series first but they didnt draw enough current.

This is 8) RPS.
I might looking into doing this myself. The green bulbs look a pretty good match for the rest of the green interior lighting, too, from what I can see in the photo?
Nice work. It's something I miss after owning a couple of Audis in the past.
