Where has all my coolant gone ??
Well, it seems my earlier power supply problems have now been identified.
Not turbo split/loose/compressed pipes.
Not EGR's
No, it was all down to lack of coolant !!!
Engine overheating [temp guage still showing normal] > Fan [not turbo] constantly whirring > Engine going into safety mode = cut in power.
Symptoms discovered last week by my local garage [note: Not LR dealer who couldn't diagnose ]
He added around 4 - 5 litre coolant.
Just checked this morning [after just around 1k miles since Thurs] and there's no coolant in the expansion bottle.
No signs of drippage or leaks .. so where has all my coolant gone?
[in local garage today to diagnose & have intercooler fitted plus EGR's blanked off]I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Head gasket possibly. Get the coolant bottle checked for hydrocarbons. Most garages can do this I think.

Yes Dunc, but so is loosing the coolant, and that usually would result in a blown head gasket, or cracked head/block etc.

I bet Ron will have some choice first names for his car if it does need a new hg
Sorry Ron, only winding you up, are you sure its not dripping onto something hot and evaporating before it hits the ground? usually accompanied by a curry like odour from around the engine. Other possibility is a loose cap on the bottle allowing evaporation.

Just 'cos no-one's rattled this cage for a while....aren't the EGR valve intakes liquid cooled??? Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
