Nigel - was it already registered ? - still a very good price but an outstanding one if you were the first registered owner

Hi IRF

No it was not pre registered I am the first owner. I was in the right place at the right time and they needed the sale to hit a target.

Hi

Are you prepared to say which dealer? I'm struggling to find one that wants to do a really good deal on a HSE!!

Seen some good prices at motorpoint but they come from spain, and looking on the spanish landrover site it looks like you miss a lot of things like sat nav, front parking sensors, rear air con, pti etc to whilst it is an HSE it isn't really as far as I can see.

Unfortunately the telephone guys not helpful and I live too far away to have a look at the actual vehicle to get a true idea of spec.

Paul

Tonyrec. Apologies if you have sufficient info already but I am too tired to read whole thread. I got 4k off an HSE with fridge, rear diff, magic xenons and door strips. PM me if you want details.

Many thanks for the info but ive now ordered the car which we will get on 1st March. We got £3500 discount and a better than average price for our Disco 2. I guess its all swings and roundabouts but we are satisfied and feel it was worth all the phone calls and leg work.

Cheers

Dealer contacted me today to say that our car will be at the dealership on 20th Feb and to confirm the 'freebies' that we are getting fitted etc etc.

It was all very nice but i was trying to put it out of my mind. I think im coming down with something because all i do is stare at the brochures and read this site on a daily countdown.
Im sure it will all be cured in just over 8 weeks though!

I really cant wait Very Happy

"Cost to change" as someone already mentioned is the only figure I'd be interested in. I swapped an 03 D2 GS with 58K on the clock for my ex-demonstrator 05 D3 S which has leather seats, side steps, rubbing strips, tow-pack, roof rails and locking rear diff. This was exactly the spec and extra's I wanted. I negotiated a straight swap which cleared the finance on the D2 and arranged new finance on the D3. No money changed hands between me and the dealer! Just an extra 7% per month on the finance. As I'd been paying the same amount for two years and the new payments are also fixed this was no great hardship for me and well worth the extra to upgrade IMO.

Of course you need to find the right vehicle and the screen price and PX is where negotiations start. But ultimately it's how much it costs to get into your new vehicle that is the most important figure - unless your making a cash purchase and have nothing to trade.

Someone posted the following on LRO forum, if anyone is looking for a good price on a nearly new HSE:

"I just found a D3 HSE TDV6 with 1600 miles on the clock (Ex landrover company car) 05 reg (June I think) for £35,850. Guy Salmon had 2 others for 1k more with same low mileage in case anyone was looking. One was at Wakefield and the other at the Leeds dealership."

So if your happy to have a 'nearly new' rather than 'brand new' you could save thousands!

End of the quarter is the best time when targets are clearly in their mind. As I have said before David Marsh at Harwoods has always done me proud on 01798 877238 and mention the site.

I emailed nearly every dealer in england just before Christmas. The replies back varied by £6,000 ! I ended up paying 38,500 + extras and got the car on the 29th Dec - brand new, first owner 06my. He even got the car from another dealer (how that works I don't know?)

Hope that helps. If you want to know how to do it , just ask (it took me about an hour and a half to send the emails)
