Binned it (a saga)
Driving home from a job in Bristol Thursday PM, took a short cut, prat-nav re-routed for the shortest route via a nice little ford, I couldn't see the depth sign properly but thought - it doesn't look too bad (famous last words) give it a go.
It wasn't so much the depth but the flow that caused the problem, it seemed to pick the car up and swing the back end downstream and off the concrete track that forms the roadway, as it came off the track there were too many alarm messages to remember and the engine died, it wouldn't re-start so I was stuck with the inside slowly filling with water.
I optimistically called LRA first, they said "if the exhaust is under water there's nothing we can do, we're not suitably equipped for flood recovery, we suggest you call the emergency services"
Tried 999 and eventually was told, "the best we can do is get a recovery agent out to you, probably cost you about £150 call out + + " no thanks says I, I'll get my son to bring my 90 down and we'll get it out ourselves.
Next thing there's a police helicopter hovering overhead with a super-bright spotlight, then a police car turns up and then the fire brigade arrived with a small inflatable dinghy.
By this time I was sitting on the roof as the seats were under water, the radio sound went off with a big fart and the sat-nav announced that it was not installed, the interior light was going on & off as were the headlights and indicators- all this with the ignition off and the key out!
The fire brigade boys waded out with the dinghy, I got in and was chauffeured to shore where I was promptly arrested on suspicion of burglary
In the meantime, my son had turned up with the 90 and was told "That (the Disco) is evidence it will have to stay where it is for now, go home!!)
I was ferried off to the local police station for interview, it seemed that a house close to where I was stuck had been burgled and they were looking out for a silver 4x4 with a male driver, eventually they got the story right and it turned out that it was a white Mitsubishi with a 20yr old male driver (40 odd years younger than me.)
Anyway, they gave me a lift home, but it was too late to do anything with the Disco, I contacted the NFU and they said they would organise recovery, however by the time it was recovered it had been in a couple of feet of water for nearly 24 hours so they said it would be considered a write-off and taken straight to a salvage yard.
Just waiting now to see what the NFU have to offer.Clive

Clive,
OMG! I can't believe it. What a complete er.
Glad you're ok etc. but so sad to see your D3 like that. I hope the insurance is all ok. Getting arrested at the same time really is the icing on the cake.
is the insurance side all looking ok?D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Costly mistake Might be worth letting us know which ford it was so people in the local area dont suffer the same fate!

The water level looks well below the air intake. Was it below it when it happened?D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Nooo! Not good.
I wonder how much worse its extended soaking due to helping the police with their enquiries made the situation?
Can I have first dibs on the buttons on the drivers seat controls? I only need the button covers, not the electrical bits.
Oh, and sorry to hear of your misfortune
Edit: As you were arrested, regardless of the outcome, your DNA is now on big brother's database I presume?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Cheers for the condolences & wishes guys, as I said, Ill have to wait and see what NFU have to offer before I commit on what comes next.
Would be nice to get it back as salvage afterwards though.
Edit; no DNA taken, story sorted out before I got into the custody suite, so arrested then de-arrested.Clive
