I wouldn't be so sure about that Neil, I seem to be a bit of a disaster area recently.

You're absolutely right there, in the end it's just a big tin box, a rather special one perhaps but still mass produced and replaceable.
It's still a bit galling though when you find one you like a lot and have no problems with it when all around are complaining about theirs - never even had an EPB screamer - beginning to feel deprived now - think I need councilling

Glad to hear you're OK. Could happen to any of us and it's scary the strength water can have - shifting 2.7 tons of motor car is not fun.
NFU are a good company IMHO, although values given for vehicles are always lower than what you would pay to buy one. Some dealers offer insurance against that - tho I'm not convinced it's good value - unless this happens...
Don't forget to take out ALL your personal belongings as soon as you can - getting them back afterweards may not be easy/possible.
Good luck in getting it sorted. At least you'll have a good story to dine out on for years to come.Andy C

Well you know - water off a dogs back and all that - (sorry for the poetic license there.)
No she's not bothered, was at home anyway, just her usual waggy self when I got in.
I notice you're another member from the 'Dale, I lived there myself for about 20 odd years, never found a ford though, apart from a little one by Healey Dell? or maybe I'm dreaming?

So sorry Clive, hope insurance dealings go smoothly for you. I have to say I'm most shocked you got arrested, talk about adding salt to the wound! Do you not have proof of registration in vehicles over there? Or were the cops just that dumb?I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Yes I was a bit surprised too, a swift kick in the nuts for sure.
The police have a system that shows what car is registered to which person (generally) it mostly works, but they were looking for someone who had burgled a local house with, initially at least, just a vague description.
It turned out the PCSO (plastic plod) were too hasty getting the initial description and got it completely wrong.
Still I can see the funny side now.Clive

personalised number
Remember, if you have a personal number, put it on retention a.s.a.p. otherwise you may have a job getting it back from ins. co. So I've been advised anyway.never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly

Been there - done that.
Had one on a Beamer a few years ago that got pinched off the drive, (keys fished through the letterbox.)
Had to get a letter from the insurer stating that they had no interest in keeping the plate financial or otherwise, before DVLA would allow retention in my name and then had to wait a year before they would transfer it to another car, got there eventually though, still got the number but it's on my Deafener now, didn't bother putting it on the Disco, glad of it now too.Clive

Although there is a humorous side to this topic I do feel for you crwoody. I know how it feels to loose a vehicle (Vee-Hickle ) unintentionally. So sorry for your trouble and hope it works out the best for you.2000 Discovery 2 Kent Green (totaled) R.I.P.

Just a thought but wouldn't 1 x accident damaged written off disco 3 + flood damaged disco = 1 x working disco Would be a case of stripping all the electricals out of the accident damaged d3 and transferring across.

Clive, any news from the NFU?
just wondered how it was all going?
Especially as I am about to renew my car insurance and I might well go NFU if they pay out on yours.
Good luck with it all.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

No Ian I'm not!
I am thinking that I could easily have been in Clives position and that having insurance with direct line on the D3 probably isn't the most sensible option given that I take it laning etc. I think an insruance that pays out when it goes wrong is better than cheap insurance that will only pay out on "standard" claims.
I'm getting old and worry more!D3 HSE MY05 Auto
